Beloved British story-teller Nick Hornby (An Education), has penned this powerful tale of Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan, The Lovely Bones), a young Irish immigrant trying to make her way in 1950s Brooklyn, New York. Lured by the fresh start the United States promises, she departs Ireland, leaving behind her beloved sister and the comforts of her mother’s home. Initially homesick, Eilis struggles to gain her footing. She works in a glamorous department store and lives a quietly shy life in a boarding house of outspoken women. Her redemption comes as she excels in her accounting studies and is swept up in a whirlwind romance. But when a tragic twist forces Eilis home, her new life becomes threatened by her past and she must ultimately choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.

With a powerful cast, including a break out performance from Emory Cohen as the charming love interest Tony, Brooklyn has received rave reviews as a superb time capsule and sweeping romance for the ages.
