Irish gentleman Pierce Brosnan plays the dashing Richard Haig; a successful and respected Cambridge English professor who lives a wild side of excess, parties and sleeping with his students by night. When his constant philandering eventually results in a beautiful American student Kate (Jessica Alba) falling pregnant, Richard is forced to do the right thing. It is not long before he cleans up his act, and the two depart Britain for a beach house in sunny Los Angeles. There they have an adorable son, and are temporarily happy. However after only a few years, the influence of his father (legendary British actor Malcolm McDowell) and life’s disruptions begin to take hold, bringing Richard’s dark side to the fore. His undeniable attraction to Kate’s older sister Olivia (Salma Hayek), his drinking problem and serious immigration issues all come crashing down on him.
This crowd-pleasing comedy-drama with an all-star cast is both raunchy, sentimental, and is guaranteed to charm.
