With a powerful ensemble cast including Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep, this intense drama tracks the early feminist movement in the fight for the right to vote in Britain. Suffragette is a term used to describe members of women’s organisation movements for voting rights, and this is the first real film to honour the extraordinary heroines who risked everything for equality at the turn of the last century.

These working class women were forced underground; branded as insurgents and severely restricted in everyday life. They were forced into a dangerous game with the State just to have the chance to be heard. After their peaceful protests fall on deaf ears, they desperately resort to radicalisation and violence for fear of losing everything including their jobs, homes and children.

Suffragette powerfully recounts this deeply passionate and intense watershed moment in history through the personal and powerful women who started a revolution.
